About Me

I learned to play piano and cello in Madison, WI where I grew up. When I was 4 years old, I begged my parents for piano lessons despite not having a piano in our house! My connection to music had begun.piano, 5 yrs

At age 9, I started studying the cello in my school strings program, mostly because I didn’t want to play violin like most of the other strings players. I was drawn to the tones and possibilities with the instrument, whose melodies could be low and deep or high and dramatic.10 yrs

By the end of high school, I knew that I wanted playing the cello to be a big part of my adult life. I studied music and Spanish at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, and graduated with honors in 2014. While at St. Olaf, I started my cello studio with a few students. After graduating, I moved to the Twin Cities and began building my cello studio and becoming actively involved in the local music scene, playing in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the band Fox & Coyote, and various chamber music ensembles.

I love working with people from all backgrounds – musical or not. It’s a pleasure to see my students connecting with their chosen instrument, and with all kinds of music. Seeing their progress and excitement as they master new skills is my favorite part of being an educator.
